08.27.2008 — Wireworld has introduced its Ultraviolet USB cable, the company's first upgrade USB cable.

The company says the cable features a flat design that enables runs up to 7 meters (23 feet), which is longer than most conventional USB cables.

Wireworld adds that Ultraviolet provides "improved sound quality" in media servers, PC audio and other digital music applications.

Ultraviolet USB cables, which will be on hand at CEDIA Expo 2008, are available in the following lengths (in meters): 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7.

"Now that USB audio inputs have become a standard feature on home theater receivers and desktop music systems, the demand for upgrade USB cables is absolutely exploding," says Wireworld president David Salz.

The design of the Ultraviolet USB cable is derived from the company's flat HDMI cables. Wireworld says the conductor topology reduces digital jitter to minimize audible degradation and noise.

The cables are .12-inches thick and use 26-gauge, silver-plated copper conductors and proprietary low-loss ground path.

Wireworld, which didn't release pricing, expects to ship the Ultraviolet USB cables come September.
