Wayne Dalton Corp. to Demo Garage Door Displays at EHX
Part of the Z-Wave Alliance, Wayne Dalton to go solo with booth at EHX Fall.
Wayne-Dalton Corp. is hoping that show attendees will park outside its wooden garage door at Booth 1713.
With headquarters in Mt. Hope, Ohio, Wayne-Dalton has been a maker of garage doors, openers and access systems for residential and commercial customers for over 50 years. Now, though, the manufacturer is branching out -- with a booth at EHX.
"We've been at EHX before," says Fritz Laubach of Wayne-Dalton (also a speaker at an installation session Thursday, Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at 305C).
"In the past, we were part of the Z-Wave booth, but now this is our first booth that's just us."
Wayne-Dalton is expanding into the control channel. "We've been in this business for a couple of years now and we're just now coming out with our products," explains Laubach.
"We're with Z-Wave Alliance. There are 150 companies all tied to interoperability."
Indeed, the Z-Wave Alliance is a consortium of independent manufacturers who have agreed to build wireless home control products based on the Zensys' Z-Wave open standard.
"We feel that the CE pro customer is a much better fit for our distribution," Laubach adds. "These people are much more familiar with this type of product than our traditional garage door dealer."
And what about that garage door display?
"We're used to having giant booths with multiple garage doors," Laubach says with a chuckle. "So, for us, this will be a small display."
