Announced on the company’s Check Out blog, Wal-Mart’s Susan Chronister says that the big-box retailer will only stock Blu-ray hardware and software (in addition to SD DVD), dropping HD DVD completely.
So… if you bought the HD player like me, I’d retire it to the bedroom, kid’s playroom, or give it to your parents to play their John Wayne standard def movies, and make space for a BD player for your awesome Hi Def experience.
Best Buy and Netflix, two of the biggest movie distributors, have also decided to support Blu-ray this week.
There were rumblings way back when that Wal-Mart was considering siding with HD DVD and even carrying a low-cost Venturer model, but apparently that’s not that case.
It’s been a big week for format war news.
