Vudu 1080p Streaming Comes to Mitsubishi Connected TVs
On-demand HD movie service available on Mitsubishi's Diamond Unisen models LT-46249 and LT-52249.

Is Vudu giving Netflix a run for its money?
The movie service, which includes more than 2,200 high-def titles within its 16,000-plus library, continues to extend its reach in Netflix-like fashion. After recently teaming up with LG, Vudu has announced that it's on-demand library will be available on Mitsubishi's Diamond Unisen Immersive Sound LCD sets.
It was made available on Vizio TVs earlier this year. Vudu also streams YouTube, Flickr, Picasa and Pandora services, plus more than 80 "On Demand TV" channels.
Vudu will be coming to the Diamond Unisen models LT-46249 and LT-52249 ($2,599 for the 46-inch; $3,099 for the 52-inch, respectively), which feature the company's integrated 18-speaker Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound system and Variable Smooth 240 Film Motion processing.
That should help make those standard-definition, HD and HDX titles from Vudu look and sound pretty sweet, especially those offered in 1080p and 5.1 sound. The Diamond Unisens include an Ethernet port, but there's also an optional Vudu wireless accessory bridge to connect wirelessly.
For owners of a qualifying Unisen TV, Vudu is offering owners of a qualifying Unisen TV a $50 credit towards rentals that is valid for 60 days. The Vudu account has to be activated by July 16, 2010 in order to qualify.

I don’t see how Vudu is even directly competing with Netflix? Vudu is really competing with Amazon because you pay for each rental individually while Netflix comes with your monthly package. Two different concepts. Since I watch a lot of stuff online, I favor Netflix’s model. And to be honest, right now bandwith isn’t good enough (or with some ip’s large enough)in too many areas to warrant individual purchases. At least to enjoy real HD picture quality.
