Vizio, Hisense Have 4K Ultra HD at CES 2013: Is Category Already Passe?
Vizio, Hisense among latest entrants in 4K Ultra HD TVs with models up to 110 inches.
By the time Vizio finally got around to announcing its 4K Ultra HD TV lineup yesterday, the whole 4K thing was already passe. After all, Hisense, Westinghouse and no-name Skyworth already announced UHD displays up to 110 inches.
Vizio isn’t providing availability or pricing on the new “VIZIO XVT-Series Ultra HD Razor LED Smart TVs w/Theater 3D”, but the company does say it will produce 55-, 65-, and 70-inch models (see Vizio press release, next page).
Meanwhile, Hisense has announced it will produce three UHD sets featuring its own “breakthrough” U-LED technology.
The XT900 Series will come in 65-, 84- and 110-inch sizes. It seems to have a few useful features like Google TV and a remote control with a built-in mic for voice recognition. A detachable camera can be used for Skype but also facilitates gesture control and facial recognition.
