Vizio, Hisense Have 4K Ultra HD at CES 2013: Is Category Already Passe?
Hisense 4K Ultra HD before and after “U-LED” at CES 2013. That’s all the proof I need.
Vizio isn’t providing availability or pricing on the new “VIZIO XVT-Series Ultra HD Razor LED Smart TVs w/Theater 3D”, but the company does say it will produce 55-, 65-, and 70-inch models (see Vizio press release, next page).
Meanwhile, Hisense has announced it will produce three UHD sets featuring its own “breakthrough” U-LED technology.
The XT900 Series will come in 65-, 84- and 110-inch sizes. It seems to have a few useful features like Google TV and a remote control with a built-in mic for voice recognition. A detachable camera can be used for Skype but also facilitates gesture control and facial recognition.
XT900 key specifications:
- UHD (3840 x 2160) native resolution
- U-LED Technologies
- 120 Hz
- WiFi enabled
- Smart TV with Google TV
- 65”, 84”, 110” screen sizes
- 3D
- Smart TV functionality
- Precise Local Dimming
- Mega Dynamic Contrast Ratio (10,000,000:1)
- Multi-Screen Play
- Detachable camera (Skype calling, gesture and facial recognition)
- Voice control

Is 4K passe because garbage importer Vizio announces products in the category? Were cars DOA when Yugo entered the market? Our clients listen to our guidance as we differentiate between well made goods from name brand manufacturers like Toshiba, Sony, LG and Panasonic and the wholesale junk merchants like Vizio. 4K might be an exciting opportunity to have those conversations and make a few big ticket sales.
