Unique Cabinet Design Bolsters GoldenEar’s Latest Floorstanding Speaker

GoldenEar says the Triton Seven provides homeowners with a more affordable and compact Triton speaker that includes many technologies developed for its more expensive Triton Two and Triton Three flagship products minus the more expensive products’ inclusion of built-in powered subwoofers. The Triton Seven employs a cabinet shape that GoldenEar says serves the purpose of adding to the speaker’s aesthetics while helping the speaker’s acoustic properties. GoldenEar notes that with the combination of the speaker cabinet’s inert and functional design, and crossover network that aligns the Triton Seven’s D’Appolito driver array, the Triton Seven is able to produce coherent, time-aligned sound at ear level listening positions.

Examining the D’Appolito driver array even further, the company utilizes its midrange drivers in conjunction with its High Velocity Folded Ribbon Driver (HVFR), and to augment the frequency extension of the speakers, GoldenEar incorporates a pair of side-mounted passive radiators. According to GoldenEar, the use of the sub-bass radiators enables the speaker to couple to the room to optimize the playback of music, movie and TV multichannel surround content.

GoldenEar specifies the speaker to stand just over 40 inches tall; 7 inches wide and 11 inches deep, and it says the speaker is 89dB sensitive.  The Maryland-based company also specifies the speaker’s frequency response at 29Hz to 35kHz and its impedance at 8 ohms.
