Triad’s New Subs: ‘Most Ambitious New Product Launch in Triad History’
They feature DSP and meet CEA/CEDIA best practices guidelines.
Triad Speakers, Inc. is rolling out its first new subwoofer line in eight years.
It includes multiple in-room versions, two in-ceiling versions, two in-wall versions and three companion RackAmp amplifiers. Each subwoofer incorporates digital signal processing (DSP) to help installers deal with the problems of small-room acoustics.
The new subwoofer line complies with CEDIA and CEA's recently released best-practices guidelines, according to Triad. CEB22: "Home Theater Recommended Practice: Audio Design" guidelines define recommended subwoofer placement options and configurations.
Triad founder and president Larry Pexton is pretty proud of his new subwoofer line. "This is the most ambitious new product launch in Triad history," he says. "We are combining new amplifiers with new enclosures, new drivers and DSP to substantially strengthen our subwoofer offerings."
The InRoom versions of the sub are available in the company’s Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum levels. The InRoom versions are sold as powered subs with built-in DSP PlateAmps or as sub enclosures mated with outboard 300-, 500- and 1,000-watt DSP RackAmp amplifiers.
The Powered InRoom DSP Sub feature set and pricing is:
InCeiling and InWall Subs: MSRP ranges from $1,300 to $2,000 depending upon configuration.
Mated to the powerful and versatile RackAmp 300 DSP, Triad’s new InCeiling Bronze/10 Sub features a single long excursion 10-inch woofer.
InCeiling Bronze/10 Sub mated with RackAmp 300 DSP: MSRP is $1,500.
The larger InWall Silver/15 Sub combines a long-excursion 12-inch woofer and a narrow 15-inch deep enclosure that fits into more wall spaces than its predecessor.
InWall Silver/15 Sub mated with the RackAmp 500 DSP: MSRP is $1,900.
Another option in the product line is the InWall SlimSub/4, which is a 4-inch deep subwoofer that can be retrofitted into existing walls and features a flush grille. The InWall SlimSub/4 utilizes a proprietary 10-inch woofer and a sealed enclosure. The SlimSub can be used singularly or in pairs with the RackAmp 300 DSP or more powerful RackAmp 500 DSP.
