Skyworth at CES 2013: Bring on the Generic 84-inch 4K Ultra HD
Skyworth 84-inch 4K Ultra HD at CES 2013
At CES 2013, Skyworth is showing a great-looking 84-inch Ultra HD TV with some pretty good demo material to boot. I spied it during set-up today in the South Hall at the LVCC (video below).
A Google search shows that the Chinese manufacturer announced last August it would begin volume production of the 4K sets, including 50- and 65-inch models.
A fairly amusing translation of the the August press release follows:
The 84-inch UHD cloud TV will adopt full metal face, the technique of dull polishing and a deluxe design of hull-shaped base, equipped with advanced cloud technology and healthy technology, which will turn the TV at the sitting room into a background wall.
The new product is equipped with fitness sports platforms like champion ping pong and yoga, with the fitness features upgraded, so it can achieve a more powerful health check and guidance. On the news conference, Skyworth takes the initiative to upgrade the passive TV watching mode into a TV individualized watching mode. The “individualized UI” is released to truly center on the customers. It provides the users with various log-in methods like face recognition, voice command and remote control. The most suitable interface and theme is provided in accordance with the basic information of the users. Users’ favorite cloud resources of fitness are pushed to the users through an analysis of their action. Meanwhile, it can also support user customization. It seems that the TV has “EQ” now that it has realized individualized skin, individualized recommending and individualized contents. The users will definitely feel rather interested in the UHDTV products with “ultra strong hardware”, the “cloud platform” with high IQ, and “individualized UI” with a high EQ and will change their watching and living style.
Does this mean maybe we’ll see sub-$10,000 84-inch Ultra HDs in the near future? Vizio anyone?
