“Side by Side” Documentary Is Must-See for Electronics Professionals
The 2012 documentary "Side by Side" shows how movies are made, start to finish, in both film and digital processes. Joel Silver, president and founder of the Imaging Science Foundation, calls it a must-see.
Unlike the process of writing and recording music, which is often determined by the artist's emotion or even his or her touring schedule, the movie making process is much more standardized.
A documentary released a few years go called Side by Side takes viewers into the content creation process. Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) president and founder Joel Silver says the documentary is a "must see" for electronics professionals.
Narrated by John Wick star Keanu Reeves, the 2012 documentary reviews the history and workflow of both digital and photochemical film creation. The ISF says the documentary shows how filmmakers have been able to innovate using both mediums to entertain the public for decades.
The documentary features Interviews with directors and producers including George Lucas, Martin Scorsese and David Lynch, as well as cinematographers, colorists, scientists and engineers that all relay their experiences working with film and digital.
Rotten Tomatoes scores the documentary at 92 percent and IMDB gives the movie a 7.6 out of 10 rating. The movie is available for rental from the iTunes Store, Amazon Instant Video, and Netflix's DVD rental program.
