Sherwood to Launch 2 Blu-ray Players at CEDIA Expo
BDP-6003 and BDP-5003 have Profile 2.0 and Profile 1.1, respectively.
Sherwood plans on launching its first two Blu-ray players at CEDIA Expo 2008 (Sound Room 13), TWICE is reporting.
The BDP-6003 will offer BD Live capability with Profile 2.0, while the BDP-5003 will feature Profile 1.1 with BonusView.
Both Blu-ray players include:
Jeffrey Hipps, marketing and product development senior VP for Sherwood, says the 6003 is intended for "sheltered distribution," and the 5003 is targeted to the mass market.
The prices of Blu-ray prices are reportedly starting to drop, but Sherwood is taking it a step further: it will give away one BDP-6003 to an attendee at CEDIA.
To be eligible, attends must audition Sherwood's Blu-ray home theater system comprising the R-972 HDMI 1.3 receiver with the Trinnov Digital Room Correction system during the Expo.
Sherwood will also be giving one flagship Newcastle R-972 receiver.

- Front-panel USB Host port
- Composite, S- and component video and HDMI 1.3 outputs
- Decoding of all authorized Blu-ray surround formats

- Coaxial and Toslink digital audio outputs
- An Ethernet port for firmware upgrades and 192kHz/24-bit audio DACs
