Runco XtremeProjection Series Targets High-End Systems
Runco’s XtremeProjection Series are designed for large screen systems, and the active 3D products ship with three pairs of 3D glasses.
Runco, a manufacturer that helped to drive the popularity of home theater in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s remains committed to the home theater market and this past fall the West Coast-based manufacturer announced its XtremeProjection series of products that are designed for large home theater spaces.
The company says the new X-200i, X-400d and X-450d products are the first models to populate the line and they are engineered to fill screen sizes ranging from 171 inches to 235 inches. All three products utilize Runco’s DLP-based SuperOnyx technology, as well as the company’s proprietary image processing technologies to produce quality images in 2D and 3D.
“Runco’s legacy in incomparable visual experiences continues with this new XtremeProjection series,” says Jennifer Davis, vice president of marketing for Runco. “These new systems demonstrate our commitment to the success of dealers and the delight of their clients, with exceptional video performance, beautiful 3D performance, and the features and options that make Runco a perfect fit for any theater design, all at a great price.”
In addition to the employment of its SuperOnyx technology, Runco also notes the products incorporate its CineWide and CineWide with AutoScope lens technology options to enable the projectors to show 2.35:1 aspect ratio content without black bars. Runco adds that authorized dealers have the ability to install the projectors into a number of installation scenarios through the projectors’ many lens options, and the units ship with three pairs of active 3D glasses each respectively.
The X-200i is a single-chip DLP model that Runco says produces an uncalibrated ANSI lumens figure of 1,430 and once calibrated to its CSMS standard, the X-200i produces 50 Foot-Laberts (fL) of light output. The X-400d is rated to produce 2,100 ANSI lumens uncalibrated, as well as a contrast ratio of 10,000:1. Calibrated, the company points out, the X-400d will produce 52 fL of brightness. The X-450d produces as much as 3,780 ANSI lumens and once it is calibrated to its CSMS standard, Runco says it will produce 94 fL of brightness.
Other features offered with the projectors include built-in processing for the X-200i, while the X-400d and X450d get external 2U outboard processors. All three products include the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) calibration suite that features ISF Day and ISF Night presents for specific light condition settings. Runco backs the projectors with its style-friendly ColourPalette interior design program, as well as its two-year RuncoCare warranty.
