Daniel Tonks, proprietor of RemoteCentral.com, the remote-control Web site to the stars, has tried just about every technique for controlling Blu-ray through the Sony PlayStation 3 (not easy), and for integrating Blu-ray control into a more traditional universal remote experience (WAY not easy).
He now offers a review of the Sony's official Bluetooth-based remote control, "which decidedly cannot be integrated with any universal remotes," he says.

I too have tried the Nyko and other brands listed in Daniel’s excellent article and have found some of the codes to flaky and very hard to learn and there is often a lag time between button presses and actual execution of commmnads by the PS3.
The real bummer is that only the Blue tooth Sony remote has a power on and off, if you call holding down the PS key and going thru selection prompts.
I know that Universal remote’s MSC-400 controller has a USB port that can output serial commmands which would mean that a simple USB to USB connection would make the PS3 controllable if only Sony would come up with discrete serial on and off codes, anybody listening at Sony SCEA or Tokyo?
