Original ‘Silver Linings’ Gets Help from Carlos Santana

With all the Oscar hype around the new movie “Silver Linings Playbook’, the custom electronics industry has had the original version of Silver Linings for quite awhile, and we think it’s Oscar worthy also.

CE Pro 100 integrator Audio High, with locations in Northern and Southern California, is owned by Michael E. Silver. He combined his dedication to charity with his love of music to create a separate 501(c)(3) organization called Silver Linings. This organization is fully funded by the company so there is no overhead and 100 percent of money and donations go to charities that Audio High supports.

In 2011, for example, the company did a large project for the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford University where the staff upgraded a media room (for young patients) with about $80,000 of donated equipment and labor, including a SIM2 projector, Stewart Filmscreen, and Kaleidescape system. They hold special events there regularly, such as bringing in Pixar movies before they are released in the theater, and special guests.

“We contribute to the Monterey Bay Aquarium every year and have since 1988,” says Silver, noting that the company has already donated about $50,000. Also, Audio High held a benefit concert for Cystic Fibrosis Research Inc. with jazz greats Buster Williams, Kenny Barron, and Lenny White performing.

“We did an eight-series concert with pianist Robert Silverman performing the entire set of Beethoven piano sonatas, which we also recorded and will be putting out with a web site and a lot of accompanying material,” says Silver. “This has raised $25,000 so far and all proceeds from albums sales are also being donated, probably to the LPCH. We produced a concert with Carlos Santana and he gave a talk at our store to help promote charity work he is doing.”
