Netflix to Discontinue HD DVD on December 15th
Company says it will automatically replace HD DVDs with DVDs in subscribers' queues.
First it was Niveus, then Toshiba, Onkyo and many others. Now, it's time for Netflix.
The company announced it will discontinue HD DVDs as of December 15, Engadget HD is reporting.
Netflix, in a letter to its subscribers (see below), says it "will automatically replace any HD DVD titles in your Queue with standard DVDs when available. You don't have to do anything."
Netflix initially made this decision back in February, saying four of the six biggest movie studios publish on Blu-ray. Netflix also said “a majority” of its subscribers were choosing Blu-ray over HD DVD.
