NeoPro Rolls Cat 5 Video Matrix, Posts Crestron Modules

Concord switcher has in-wall receivers powered by Cat 5 cable (no wall warts); built-in equalizer optimizes signal over long cable runs.

NeoPro Concord with Hornet in-wall A/V receiver

If you think all matrix switchers are the same, then you haven't seen NeoPro's 8x8 Concord, which is now shipping.

The unit, which features eight inputs and outputs, switches and distributes high definition component video, composite video (or digital audio), and analog stereo audio.

The in-wall receivers, code-named "Hornet" are single-gang inserts with all six signals fitting into a Decora-style wallplate. The receivers require only a single pair of Cat 5 cables, which can deliver full 1080p over distances of up to 1,000 feet.

Unlike other systems that require a local power source for each receiver (those unsightly wall warts!), the Concord receivers are powered over Cat 5.

The system solves yet another problem for integrators. NeoPro says it has patented some techniques to automatically adjust the receiver for peak performance without any interaction from the installer during the trim-out phase of a project.

Cat 5 cables can degrade signals at high frequencies over long lengths of cable. The built-in automatic equalizer detects the length of the cable and applies the correct amount of equalization to deliver full fidelity music and video.

Installers simply need to plug the receiver into the Cat5 cables, and screw it into the wall.

At EHX, NeoPro announced the availability of Crestron modules for several of its most popular products.
