Naim Multi-Format Device Is UPnP Enabled to Facilitate Network Streaming
With on-board amplification, UPnP networking capabilities, wireless options and a choice of inputs, including USB, Naim's UnitiQute represents a new way for consumers to add multiroom audio to their home without adding a rack full of components.
Naim’s UnitiQute is a UPnP device that includes amplification, analog, digital and USB inputs, as well as Ethernet and wireless connectivity and it allows installers to add retrofittable audio to a client’s home on a zone-by-zone basis.
With services like Rhapsody, Pandora, LastFM, as well as Internet radio, consumers have a growing number of Web-based music choices available to them through the click of a mouse.
Naim Audio's UnitiQute is a one-box solution that incorporates an amplifier rated to deliver 30-watts per channel into an 8-ohm load, an FM tuner, USB for computer connections, analog and digital inputs for traditional legacy sources, Ethernet, UPnP networking capabilities and 24-bit/192kHz digital-to-analog converters (DACs) to upgrade the sound quality of low-resolution digital files. The unit was released at CES 2010 in Las Vegas this week.
The company says the unit is compatible with WAV, MP3, Windows media, AAC and FLAC files, and its on-board bass management system enables installers to run the unit with a subwoofer/satellite speaker system.
The unit is expected to launch in March 2010 at an MSRP of $2,000.
