Meet Meridian’s Sooloos Control 15, Media Source 600

Meridian has launched two products, the Sooloos Control 15 and Media Source 600, both of which appear to target ease of installation and relative affordability.

With the Sooloos Control 15, which begins shipping today, CE pros can provide storage, playback and control. The $7,500 MSRP reflects a lower entry point than Sooloos Digital Media System Version 2.1’s $8,250.

Meridian’s Media Source 600, which also begins shipping today, is designed as a low-impact way for CE pros to add Sooloos digital music, Internet radio and Rhapsody to a client’s audio system. It carries an MSRP of $3,500.

Meridian Sooloos Control 15

Meridian Audio has announced the introduction of Control 15, which combines the three essential elements of every Meridian Sooloos Digital Media System – storage, playback and control – in a single freestanding device that, when paired with Meridian’s DSP Loudspeakers, forms a complete digital system delivering class leading audio performance and control.

From its instantly responsive 17-inch touch-screen, Control 15 provides immediate access to an entire Meridian Sooloos music collection, and connected to the internet, Control 15 also serves as a simple interface to the vast choice of internet radio stations and streamed music from Rhapsody (where available).

Control 15 stores around 1000 CD albums in lossless format – along with MP3 versions that can be exported to a personal music player – on an internal 500GB hard drive: enough to satisfy the majority of music enthusiasts. And for larger music collections, one Control 15 can be connected to another Control 15, to additional Meridian Sooloos storage, or further Meridian Sooloos source components, ensuring that a system can grow along with both your music collection and your home.

Control 15 includes an integrated audio renderer featuring the full suite of Meridian’s audio enhancing technologies and delivering pristine quality, high-resolution S/PDIF and SpeakerLink digital audio to any digital music system. Using SpeakerLink to connect Control 15 to any of Meridian’s DSP Loudspeakers with a single discreet cable allows for simple installation and a variety of methods of system control – from the touch-screen, via a Meridian MSR+ system remote control, or even wirelessly using the Sooloos iPhone/iPad app. Control 15 includes a Compact Disc drive, allowing music to be loaded on to the system direct from a CD.

Meridian Media Source 600

The new Meridian Media Source 600 is an audio endpoint for a single Meridian Sooloos zone, designed to make it simple to integrate Meridian Sooloos in to any music or media system through a host of high-quality analog and digital audio connections.

Linked to a Meridian Sooloos network, Media Source 600 delivers a full suite of Meridian’s audio enhancement technologies, ensuring it always performs as a source of the highest possible sound quality in any type of audio system.

Featuring an entirely new industrial design, Media Source 600 is hand-assembled in Meridian’s Cambridgeshire factory and finished using glass and bead-blasted, naturally anodized silver aluminum. From any of the finished surfaces it is impossible to see a single fixing or screw, creating an elegantly smooth finish.

Digital output connections, including S/PDIF and Meridian SpeakerLink, mean that Media Source 600 can be connected to digital surround receivers or stand-alone D/A converters or, for the ultimate in performance, directly with a pair of Meridian’s DSP Loudspeakers.
