In an effort to promote best practices around media center installations and highlight successful projects, the Media Center Integrator Alliance (MCIA) has begun publishing case studies for installers interested in seeing Windows Media Center utilized in real life applications.
Today, MCIA has officially published two case studies profiling projects in Florida and California which are available for download on the
MCIA website.
Great stuff… now let’s see what they can do about Windows 7 Media Center in a corporate environment. NOt to be a stick in the mud but MCIA is playing catch up. Perhaps Crestron will step up to the plate here and showcase how they have introduced Media Center as a 10 foot UI for a corporate board room… but maybe that is too cynical (or willful) of a vision as I believe the may have competing technologies in their commercial space. For MONTHS we have been hearing from you folks about how CI’s can monetize the commercial space, SMS&B;, heathcare (like assisted living/retirement/long term care, etc..etc.. And MCIA is still trying to showcase the home and “affordable” systems. so point is, let’s start talking commercial. Also, let’s pierce the vail on telecommunications/conferencing/VOIP. You hear everyone talking about convergence, well the next great convergence is PC + VoIP and Video conferencing. A media center device is the perfect end client for that. I have done multiple installs of just Media center in an executive meeting room the couples together the media center “Triple Play” for Corporate communications (on a PC): Streaming content, Static content and Live communications (Which is not promoted enough in this space. media center is a great UI for Video collaboration…. ). Now if that is in the case study YEAH! Just hope it is one lead by Crestron
