Leviton Expands Vizia RF Line with Plug-in Serial Interface Module

Denver, September 5, 2007 -- Leviton Manufacturing has expanded its Z-Wave®-enabled Vizia RF Wireless Home Control System with a Plug-in Serial Interface Module that allows multiple home control systems to be programmed, configured and integrated all from a home PC or laptop. The new Vizia RF Module is ideal for configuring the Vizia RF lighting and home control system to interoperate with any number of the home’s other automated control systems through computer programming via the integrated RS232 interface.

Like other Vizia RF controllers and modules, the Serial Interface Module features Vizia RF’s exclusive enhanced two-way communication protocol which verifies that command signals have been sent and received.

The Vizia RF Plug In Serial Interface Module is equipped with a protected memory feature that maintains the ON/OFF status of connected loads as well as device ID programming during minor power fluctuations. The module’s green locator LED makes it easy to find in darkened areas of the home. The Serial Interface module is also surge protected to IEC Level 4 and ESD protected to IEC 10004-2 Level which safeguards it against damage or memory loss due to electrostatic discharges.

The Vizia RF Plug-In Serial Interface Module is part of Leviton’s family of Z-Wave compliant switches, dimmers, lamp and appliance modules and scene and Zone controllers which send and receive signals over a wireless control network. With the Z-Wave mesh network protocol, should an obstacle block the signal anywhere in the home, it is automatically rerouted along an alternate path to ensure it reaches the controlled device.
