JL Audio Begins Shipping Gotham Home Theater Subwoofer

"Mother of all subs" pushes the boundaries of bass reproduction!

Miramar, FL -- September 27, 2007 -- The JL Audio Gotham powered subwoofer is now in production and shipping to dealers across the Globe.

"The Gotham is our mission statement for home audio, expressed as a product." Says Lucio Proni, the chief engineer and CEO of JL Audio. "It combines extreme audio quality, output capability and craftsmanship and is intended for the world's most demanding subwoofer customers."

A pair of JL Audio's highest technology 13.5-inch subwoofer drivers are featured in each Gotham. These proprietary and patented woofers deliver a whopping 4-inch peak-to-peak excursion envelope and have been optimized specifically for the Gotham. Driving them is a JL Audio-engineered switching amplifier with 3800 watts of clean output capability to ensure that the woofers are allowed to operate to their maximum potential.

Built in six stages at JL Audio's Florida factory, each Gotham cabinet requires one full month to fabricate from beginning to end and is constructed entirely out of fiberglass utilizing proprietary molding and damping technologies. Extensive internal bracing features and wall thicknesses exceeding 1.1-inches throughout ensure a highly inert structure. Openings and mounting holes are CNC machined for precision before the cabinet is turned over to the finishing department where it receives nine coats of high-gloss polyester finish, each hand sanded and polished for smoothness and an incredibly deep shine. The level of craftsmanship involved is very much like that in a very high-quality piece of furniture.

A full suite of advanced signal processing features is available on the front of the Gotham and highlighted by a backlit master level knob. Features include a variable slope, variable frequency low-pass filter, a variable phase control, a polarity switch, an E.L.F. (extreme low-frequency) trim control and a fully automatic room equalization system called A.R.O. The A.R.O. system includes a microphone, which is placed in the listening position for a fully automatic measurement and correction of the room's low-frequency acoustics. The whole process takes about two minutes.

JL Audio's Director of Home Products, Carl Kennedy sums up this impressive product quite neatly: "The Gotham is squarely aimed at those seeking the ultimate--something that has never been heard or seen before."

The Gotham g213 stands 34.13-inches high x 21.50-inches Wide x 24.00-inches Deep. It weights 360 pounds. Suggested Retail Price is USD $11,000.00.
