Design Company is First to Become Lutron Homeworks Authorized Programmer (HAP)
Process Dealer Services Group, which has designed but not sold Lutron systems since 2004, now has full Lutron factory support without having to sell Lutron product.
Process Dealer Services Group, Paso Robles, Calif., has become the first company authorized to program Lutron Homeworks systems without having to sell the stuff.
The company is the first to be designated as a Homeworks Authorized Programmer (HAP) by Lutron. Homeworks is Lutron's flagship high-end lighting control system.
Since 2004, Process DSG has supported Lutron contractors including home systems integrators, electrical contractors and architects. The company engineers, programs and commissions services for both lighting and shading controls.
The difference now is that Process DSG now has "full factory support and recognition from Lutron without direct access to purchase and resell Lutron equipment," says company founder Kevin Mikelonis.
In the past, if you wanted Lutron factory support, you had to sell its products.
Now, designers can help other systems integrators without there being a conflict of interest.
"It is a significant benefit to our broad base of clients that we have no monetary interest in the sale and installation of equipment," says Mikelonis. "Contractors who sell and install Lutron Homeworks systems leverage Process DSG HAP services while remaining in full control of their own sales process."
Process DSG has created a new online piece about its HAP services. It reads, in part:
To determine project fees, Process DSG considers the total number of controlled lighting loads and total number of control point buttons for the system. The company also takes into account the requirements for on-site supervision and control plan documentation requirements.
Current hourly rates for 2009 are $95 for off-site work and $125 for on-site work.
Mikelonis says his company worked closely with Lutron to develop the HAP program, which is similar to programs offered by AMX, Crestron and others.

We can work independently with your clients as trusted partners since we do not resell the lighting and electrical products we support. We can also work transparently as one of your staff. By design, we provide you with project source code files and a logical programming framework so that you are not dependant on our services to make programming changes and can maintain your own projects.
