CES 2013 Eureka: FiveFive iOS-controlled Smart Lighting
FiveFive smart lighting with iOS control, Eureka Park, CES 2013
There are 18 RGB LEDs in the funky looking fixture for splashing colors onto a wall. Each individual light can be controlled individually via Bluetooth from an IOS device. The company provides its own color scenes—both static and moving—or users can create their own.
You can even color match an item by taking a snapshot and dragging the colors onto the palette. Three of the lamps can be controlled at once.
You won’t get a ton of light—about the equivalent of 70 watts—but it’s enough to put on a decent light show at a party.
In addition, color schemes and scenes can be activated by certain online activities, for example, if you receive an email or Tweet. It’s fun but I also see implications for the hearing impaired: splash a green on the wall if the phone rings, blue if the doorbell rings, etc.
The two founders hadn’t thought of that, but when I suggested it, they said several visitors had mentioned that.
FiveFive is aiming to ship the product in Q2 for $299.
