CEDIA Expo 2009: 4 New Panels to Tackle Hot Topics

New discussion panels will cover green building, 3D technology, HDMI and business issues.

There will be four new discussion panels at CEDIA Expo 2009 in Atlanta, Ga. at the Georgia World Congress Center on Sept. 9-13.

According to CEDIA, the panels are designed to help attendees "shed light on a current hot topic in the electronic systems industry." Each panel will feature a "top-level industry executive" and electronics systems contractors.

Below are the four panels and descriptions per CEDIA. Registration is already open for CEDIA Expo 2009.

How to Make Money and a Difference in the Green Building Industry

Will discuss the opportunities and threats associated with environmentally conscious projects. Panelists will include: Luke Morton, Fergus Garber Group; Ken Erdmann, chairman, CEDIA; and Collin Breakstone, vice president, Agilewaves.

3D: What You Must Know
Thurs., Sept. 10 at 2 p.m.

This panel will cover format issues and design considerations surrounding 3D technology. Panelists include: Rick Dean, CEO, 3D@Home Consortium, Vice President THX; Guido Voltolina, director, image technology, Dolby Laboratories; Art Berman, Insight Media; and David Aleksandersen, CPS training program manager, Projection Design.

HDMI Hot Seat
Fri., Sept. 11 at 10 a.m.

This discussion will cover the features of HDMI, current issues, future options and possible alternatives. Panelists include: Steve Venuti, president, HDMI Licensing, LLC; Mark Stockfisch, vice president & CTO, Quantum Data; Dan Jackson, marketing and development engineer for Crestron Electronics; and Eric Lee, president, Integrated Control Experts.

Watch This Space (Tentative title)
Sun., Sept. 13 at 9 a.m.

In this rapidly changing industry, unforeseen issues often arise in the weeks just before the show. Watch This Space is reserved for an in-depth discussion on the one issue organizers were unable to predict in advance. The topic will be announced mid-August.

CEDIA will also deliver two sessions on Sept. 13 about relevant industry issues. The Business CEO Summit will help attendees leverage employee leadership to maximize productivity, while the Retrofit Super Session will help technicians broaden their knowledge of retrofit-oriented products, skills and techniques.
