CE Pro Podcast: What to See at ISE 2013

CE Pro talked to some European experts to get some pre-show scoop on the event, with a mostly residential bent.

ISE is no longer “that Europe show” as it bridges a big gap in worldwide product introductions. With residential products being introduced at CEDIA U.S. in September and commercial solutions at Infocomm in June, the January ISE time frame is crucial for the vendors who wish to introduce products at the beginning of the year.

Just as it was at CES 2013, ISE should be a big event for video, says Meads. “Certainly we’re expecting some big changes in the video landscape in the next couple of years,” he says, citing 4K in particular.

He notes that “everything in the video stream has to be able to cope with those signals,” so we’ll also see infrastructure products such as those based on HDBaseT and fiber optics.

Control4 partner Wyrestorm is one HDBaseT partner that will showcase a one-wire Class D amplifier at ISE. The $795 AMP-001-010 is a single-zone solution with local amplification that complements its larger matrix switches.

For its part, Control4 is again playing host to numerous partners at Stand 8-H180. (Wyrestorm is exhibiting separately at stand 5-U110). Partners there include ADI-AV, AmBx, Atlona, Card Access, Extra Vegetables, Global Cache, ihiji, Leaf Audio, Lilin, Nyce Control, Ivorvegg/KNX and Zektor.

Control4’s Williams says, “The international market as a whole has grown significantly for Control4. ISE has become a very important show for us. Each year we continue to up the ante as far as the amount of dedication, devotion and even the size of the show floor.”
