24 Ways to Mount a Flat-Panel TV

Installation creativity is on display in our first annual Mount This! Contest.

A great thing about being a custom electronics client is that you don't have to worry about the details.

You can just say what you want and wait for it to happen.

"Mount the flat panel right over the fireplace."

"Make it so I can see the TV regardless of the direction my chair is pointing."

"Have the TV be invisible until I want to watch it. Then have it burst through the wall like the Kool-Aid man."

CE pros, meanwhile, are all about sweating the details. It's required to meet their clients' flat-panel mounting demands. Our first annual "Mount This!" contest pays tribute to some tricky TV installations.

Sometimes the challenge is in the request, as is the case with Digital Interiors' winning installation. The task was to conceal a video wall in the ceiling and have it drop down at the press of a button.

Other times the challenge is in the environment. Paragon managed to flush-mount a flat panel in a slab of steel.

The installations submitted for the "Mount This!" contest demonstrate installation creativity — and provided fun judging for CE Pro editors. Yes, Chief sponsors the contest, but the judging was based on inventive installation and not product placement.
